When the day of Pentecost came and the Holy Spirit entered into the 120 Christians who were in the upper room, they spoke with other tongues which they did not know. That was a sign that they were truly born again Christians.

Stranger Than Most

I was born and raised in Kansas, which my Abolitionist, Quaker grandfather always pointed out was never a “slave state”. The Civil War was recent history in his experience. Kansas is also the home of Brown vs. The Board of Education which gave black children the right to go to unsegregated schools.

According to the bible, true born again Christians will be judged for their works. By earth standards, the works are gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble. Gold is the first one mentioned. That must mean that GOD’S judgment will begin with the most precious one of all.

Life, for this Texas boy, is a never-ending search for the perfect restaurant, my three favorite genres are a great diner with down home country food, Mexican Food Restaurant or Bar-B-Q Joint. I am blessed to travel all over the country and go out to eat a lot, and I mean a lot.

Who can we trust? Who tells the truth all the time? Who is perfect? Trust is a personal belief in the intent and actions of another. There are some friends and relatives that we consider to be completely honest and trustworthy.

As I’ve written before, I’m NOT a good traveler. I prefer to drive because I can stuff my car with every piece of equipment and food item I might possibly need. Recently, my husband and I had to take a plane which was definitely outside my comfort zone.

Sure, I have elaborate fantasies for making my property “fair”, but I just have to accept the fact that I’m a sick, weak. old lady of moderate means. So my big dreams are constantly being trimmed back. Occasionally to the point of giving up, at least for a while. Sometimes I lose interest.

When we serve GOD with all our hearts, many temptations will come to try to hinder and dilute our service. The Devil knows if he can cause us to look at or think about something else it will draw our attention away from the service we are attempting to do for GOD.

I am sure everyone has heard this several times, but it is worth repeating. We are in the middle of a war between good and evil. The Devil has flooded the world with all kinds of temptations and devices meant to keep us from serving GOD and growing in grace.
