When did we stop being proud of our work? It used to be understood that our lives had purpose and we were to produce something to the very best of our abilities, be it corn, music or another person. Sure, there’s more to life than work, but without work, there is no life.

PATRICIA MADISON was born in Paola, Kansas, on September 16 and attended Paola High School. She was already employed by attorneys when she graduated, and most of her duties were helping Kansas “senior citizen” farmers with legal matters.

Last week Lori and I celebrated our fortieth anniversary with a quiet dinner together after Church. I can honestly say that I love her as much as I ever did and I cannot imagine what life would be without her. She is my best friend. When something good happens, I can’t wait to get home to tell her.
