It’s an especially cold and rainy week this week in North Texas. That’s right, the State Fair of Texas is going on although temperatures in the high forties isn’t the norm, rainy weather is. When my kids were growing up they would often say: “Daaaaad, that’s not fair”.

As I travel across the country preaching at churches about disaster relief I get by telling the same jokes over and over because most of the time when I preach more than once at a congregation there are several years that separate the last time I spoke there.

A LETTER TO THE EDITOR A church member wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. He wrote. “I’ve gone to church for 30 years now and have heard around 3000 sermons, but for the life of me I can’t remember a single one of them.

Never having been one to mince my words, I’m just going to get right to it. There are thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of rape test kits sitting on shelves across this nation that have never been examined because our public servants say they don’t have enough money to do it.
