Never having been one to mince my words, I’m just going to get right to it. There are thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of rape test kits sitting on shelves across this nation that have never been examined because our public servants say they don’t have enough money to do it. And yet our elected “representatives” can take our tax dollars and throw together a week-long dog and pony show for some woman who remembers being groped over her clothes 36 years ago.
Now don’t you dare say I have no empathy for the victims of abuse, sexual and otherwise. I talk to them, personally, men and women, each and every day in my practice and not one in a thousand has seen anything like justice served for the crimes committed against them. They could be one of the people who was raped, beaten or eventually killed who has a test kit waiting on a shelf that might identify his or her attacker.
