But just what is the nature of evil and how do we recognize it? I envision it like a thick, dark, oily fluid that seeps into every crevice and stains everything it touches. Sometimes it sits dormant waiting for the day we’re tested. Other times it’s a boiling tar pit spewing forth noxious fumes that choke our hearts and mislead us into ungodly beliefs and actions. And we are, none of us, immune.
We all carry specks of evil in our souls like we carry molecules of disease within our bodies. God, in His wisdom, designed us to have certain cells that sniff out those diseases and do battle with them. But even then, sometimes our little soldiers are overwhelmed and we end up in the doctor’s office.
