In the time period between Joshua and Samuel the Prophet, there was no king in Israel. The people did what was right in their own eyes. Since Israel did not drive all the people out of Canaan, they became a thorn in the side of Israel. Israel jumped between the wide road and the narrow road.

In the time that Judges ruled over the nation of Israel there was a famine in the land of Israel. A Jewish woman named Naomi with her husband and two suns went down to the land of Moab and lived there several years. First Naomi’s husband died and her two sons took wives from the Moab people.

Stranger Than Most

There’s something magical about the number 70 in my husband’s mind. As in 70 degrees. In the spring when the outside temperature hits 70, he starts up his whining about how it’s too hot in the house. Of course he’s wearing jeans, socks and a long sleeve shirt.

I apologize that I have not written my regular column this week as Lori and I are in Floresville to attend the funerals of our dear friends Bryan and Karla Holcombe along with the funerals of their Son, grandkids and pregnant daughter-in-law.

Much of the land of Canaan had been taken and assigned to the tribes of Israel. Joshua is now old and soon will die. As long as Joshua was leading the Children of Israel were willing to follow, and after Joshua died they followed the Elders who outlived Joshua.
