Israel’s failures through the book of Judges is listed after the phrase “At that time there was no king (leader) in Israel and everyone did that which was right in their own eyes”. Israel’s promise to follow GOD did not last very long. Without a leader they could not stay faithful. Once again we can see the weakness of the flesh in taking the easy path. GOD’S laws and commands are not changeable no matter what human try to do. Moving away from the weakness of humans we can see the greatest blessing GOD bestows on mankind. Although Israel turned away from GOD over and over again, GOD’S love, mercy, and patience with Israel caused Him to bring them back each time they turned back to Him. That makes us think GOD is not double minded nor vengeful toward His people neither is He a respecter of persons. Any time GOD has a chance to restore one of His own, He will do it. It has been said that Israel is the apple of GOD’S eye and the book of Judges proves that. He will not let them go. I also believe the Church is the apple of Jesus’ eye. Jesus has provided leaders in His Church.
