Kaufman County Considers Curfew for Minors

With crime on the rise throughout the nation, Kaufman County is considering implementing a curfew for minors in the unincorporated areas of the county to help protect our youth. While many Kaufman County cities already have curfews for minors, there is nothing in place in the unincorporated areas of the County. County officials are interested in input from residents in the county.

Children’s Advocacy Center for Kaufman County Awarded Grant from TVEC Charitable Foundation

The Children’s Advocacy Center for Kaufman County is excited to announce being awarded the TVEC Charitable Foundation award. This grant in the amount of $4,000.00 was awarded to the Children’s Advocacy Center for Kaufman County on June 22, 2021. These funds will help establish medical services for child sexual assault victims and child victims of physical abuse.

Mesquite Approves Shadow Creek Crossing Commercial Project

Mesquite has approved an agreement for the construction and development of a new retail project called Shadow Creek Crossing on nearly seven acres that could include a variety of retail stores and restaurant concepts. The property is owned by LF Gateway LP and is located next to John D. Horn High School at 3201 East Cartwright Road. The proposed development could include as many as six freestanding retail buildings and up to 57,500 square feet of leasable area.

Julia Dimoutsikos named to Augustana College’s spring semester Dean’s List

Julia Dimoutsikos, majoring in Psychology from Forney, TX, was among the students named to Augustana College’s 2020-21 spring semester Dean’s List. Students who have earned this academic honor have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a four-point scale for courses taken during the term.
