Governor Greg Abbott today celebrated Texas’ continuing economic momentum as new data released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis shows the Texas economy expanded faster than the nation as a whole for the fourth quarter in a row. Second quarter 2023 real GDP—the value of all goods and services produced— grew in Texas at an annual rate of 4.9%, well ahead of the U.S. which grew at 2.1%.

An ornament designed and painted by a Kaufman High School student hangs in the House of Representatives chamber in the State Capitol this Christmas. Isabella Phiffer hand-painted the ornament highlighting Kaufman High School’s Lion Pride. Representative Bell hung the ornament from the tree in a special ceremony in the House Chamber on Friday, December 1st. As is tradition, each submitted ornament will be captured through photographs and cataloged in the annual House Chamber photo album.
