‘Tis the Season to Be Thankful

One of the most American holidays is upon us next week - Thanksgiving! The beginning of the holiday is somewhat common lore with the Native Americans helping the Pilgrims to survive and eventually thrive.

Hallowe’en Is Past, But Did You See These?

Yes, I know that much of the candy has been eaten and that many of the decorations have been taken down, but I can still, in my mind, see some pretty inspiring ghosts, goblins, witches, skeletons, and other ingenious decorations. And, I wonder, did you folks see them?

He was born in 1935 in Ferriday, Louisiana, to Elmo (one-time bootlegger) and Mamie Lewis and by 9 years of age was already playing the piano, reportedly copying the styles and antics of Black musicians and various Preachers who came through his region.
