The doors of Texas Health Hospital Forney haven’t opened, but Texas Health Resources is already making an impact in the city.
Recently, 186 construction workers and subcontractors building the hospital received free health screenings at the jobsite.
“It’s especially meaningful that one of our first contributions to the Forney community is caring for the people building this hospital,” said Toya White, presiblood of Texas Health Forney. “This effort reflects our commitment to improving health beyond the walls of our facilities and how working together with corporate supporters can make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Funded by a $10,000 sponsorship from The Beck Group through the Texas Health Resources Foundation, caregivers with Texas Health’s Wellness for Life program visited the construction site twice to provide education and free tests to check cholesterol levels, heart and prostate health and diabetes risk. Female attendees were also provided information about free mammography screenings by Texas Health.
The screenings exemplify Texas Health’s Mission to improve the health of people in the communities we serve. On-site screenings enabled workers to check important health indicators without taking time away from work or scheduldent ing a doctor’s appointment.
“One person who came to the screening had a blood pressure reading that was dangerously high,” said Lisa Rose, manager of the mobile health program. “After talking through the results and the risks they pose, our team urged this man to get medical attention right away. It’s a great example of why these screenings matter, as sometimes they can uncover a serious health issue before it becomes an emergency.”
