In the early morning hours of June 2, 2025, fugitive Trevor McEuen was apprehended without incident during the execution of a coordinated search warrant by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), with the assistance of multiple local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The operation took place at a residence in Van Zandt County, where McEuen had been hiding since early May.

McEuen, 33, had been on the run since May 5, 2025, after removing his court-ordered ankle monitor and fleeing his residence just hours before the start of his capital murder trial.

Law enforcement officers worked tirelessly over the past 28 days to locate and apprehend this dangerous fugitive. The Kaufman County Criminal District Attorney’s Office extends its sincere gratitude to KCSO and all partner agencies for their relentless efforts and effective collaboration.

The DA’s Office remains committed to pursuing justice for the family of Aaron Martinez in the upcoming capital murder trial. Additionally, the office will continue to assist in any investigations involving individuals who may have knowingly aided McEuen during his time as a fugitive.

District Attorney Erleigh Wiley stated, “Keeping our community safe and seeking justice for the victim’s family remain our highest priorities. Thanks to the relentless dedication of law enforcement, this dangerous suspect is back in custody, and we can move forward in the pursuit of justice.”

While the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, they were supported by the Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas DPS Aviation, Texas Department of Criminal Justice (K-9 Unit), Texas Parks & Wildlife, U.S. Marshals Service (Eastern and Northern Districts), U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations (AMO), Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Forney Police Department, and the Kaufman County Constable’s Office, Precinct 1.
