The newest addition to the Talty Police Department shall become official during a public swearingin ceremony at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20th. K9 Kyle, his partner, Sgt. Darrell Haley, and a support team have spent recent months successfully completing a training and certification process as the City further prepared for implementing the program. “Everyone involved appreciates the public response and support for establishing a K9 unit,” said Chief DeLawrence Gilbert. “It’s a great next step after moving into our new facility and becoming a 24-7 department within the last year.”
The ceremony will be part of the regular city council meeting at 9700 County Road 213. Following the proceedings, those interested will be able to join Sgt. Haley and K9 Kyle for a viewing of the dedicated canine vehicle and opportunity to learn more about how their work will be an asset to law enforcement in Talty and the surrounding area.
