The amazing month of May continues to wow and produce hoped-for results. The blackberry vines in our woods have already produced a bountiful crop so far and the promise of more to ripen is evident when you lift the branches and look below them. Mother Nature is capable of producing surprise results just like many of the students in Forney ISD are also capable of achieving great results.
The School Board meetings have been a wonderful celebration of student achievements from championships in sports to state recognition for artwork to recognizing the 55 students from both Forney and North Forney who have already graduated from college with their Associate’s degree before they receive their high school diploma! And there are the student athletes in the Spring sports that are still competing to advance to the State playoff games.
As the Foundation is winding down its year as well, the many teachers and students whose lives have been touched by the teacherrequested grants gives the Board much hope and satisfaction for a well applied request from said teachers. The grant funded to FHS to “Wonka-fy culinary arts to the GT teacher for thinking materials for those gifted and talented students to the elementary students who got to experience “the OC in a box”, the Forney Education Foundation has helped create a bountiful harvest this year for Forney ISD!
I never tire of telling the Foundation’s story because of the “fruits” that are achieved from the generous donations and support of the Forney Family. Here’s your opportunity to aid in the nurturing of the garden that is our children’s future. Please go to www.forneyisdfoundation.org and see what has been occurring this year and then make a donation to continue the gardening and harvesting for our students!
