The first two weeks in May celebrate the many wonderful types of people in our lives–teachers, moms, nurses, and school nurses. These are the caregivers for us and for our families in school as well as in the community. The Forney Education Foundation knows firsthand how important these different types of people are to the students in Forney ISD as well as to the staff members at the campuses in the district.
The amazing thing about teachers is their empathetic approach to the different personalities in their personal orbits. They understand that some students learn in a linear way while others need a very hands-on approach, and others excel in the abstract.
The nurses in our lives help us when we are ill or hurt or provide preventive means to help us keep illness at bay. The nursing profession is a widely varied occupation, but it essentially comes down to physical care of the body.
And now for the moms in this world. A mother plays multiple roles in a child’s development, as she is a teacher in every aspect of a child’s developmental growth – social/ emotional, physical, cognitive, and independence. And the amazing thing about women who become moms through choice, regardless of the “how”, is their willingness to always put their children first. My mom is my hero when it comes to how I relate to all the people who come into my life.
