FPOA: If you are going to tell a lie, it’s probably not the brightest idea to mislead people who investigate criminals for a living.
The Forney Police Officer Association is calling on Forney City Council candidate Nofel Molai to drop out of the race due to his efforts to mislead police officers on his efforts to oppose new funding for public safety.
“If you are going to tell a lie, it’s probably not the brightest idea to mislead people who investigate criminals for a living,” said Curtis Billings, President of the Forney Police Officer Association.
When responding to the FPOA questionnaire, City Council candidate Nofel Molai claimed he supported last year’s Crime Control & Prevention District. On his current campaign Facebook page, he also claims he supported the Crime Control & Prevention District referendum.
However, it took members of the law enforcement association only a few minutes to find a Facebook post by Nofel last fall urging Forney families to “VOTE NO.”
“Last year, Nofel urged residents to vote no to funding more police officers,” added Billings. “He wanted residents to vote no to programs that fight juvenile crime. Vote no to funding bulletproof vests for officers. Vote no to crime fighting technology. Vote no to more neighborhood patrols. Yet, just a few months later, he is trying to convince voters he supports law enforcement. We have enough dishonest politicians in this country. We don’t need another like Nofel Molai on the Forney City Council.”
Nofel is facing incumbent City Councilman Cecil Chambers. Cecil has been endorsed by both the Forney police and fire associations.
