Remembering teachers that left an impact on your life helps to carry on their legacy. There are many fine teachers in Forney ISD, and my family has had the blessing to have had them as instructors through three generations of Forney ISD students. And even though I never attended school in Forney, I, too, was blessed to have many excellent teachers in my school career. One of those teacher/mentors was Mr. Jim Johnson at Texas A&M. You may ask why am I bringing up my mentor? Because of who Jim Johnson was. In all of his interactions with students, parents, fellow floral designers and really everyone he met, he taught me that relationships are everything.

The strength of the Forney Education Foundation is the relationships that have been fostered through the opportunities to share the WHY of what the Foundation does for the students in Forney ISD. From listening to George Brown talk about how he came up with the idea to create FEF to teachers telling the story of how their students are using the resources they obtained through a teacher-requested grant, the Foundation has touched many, many lives. The opportunities that the teacher grants have bestowed on the recipients are as varied as the students themselves.

On Tuesday, April 8, Forney ISD along with FEF celebrated all the Teachers of the Year from all of the campuses in the district. This evening was dedicated to the wonderful educators who go above and beyond every day for their students.

And this is where you come in. In honor of a teacher/ mentor who impacted your life and gave you tools to better your future, won’t you please visit www.forneyisdfoundation. org and see how you can donate to impact the lives of the students in Forney ISD?
