The way a shaft of Spring sunlight moves through the air is sometimes a surprise to the viewer. Light in the sky illuminates but a shaft of light is special unto itself. And when a student’s face lights up like a shaft of light, the teacher is rewarded with that source of illumination signifying comprehension. Many of the educational professionals in Forney ISD are masters at engaging with their students, causing those shining moments to happen.
When you have the opportunity to visit with teachers and ask about their favorite moments with their students, many times it is a shining moment they relay. Some are simply the immediate comprehension by the class after the teacher has explained the idea; other times it will take several explanations with different examples to obtain that shining moment. Just like trees leaf out in Spring in spite of the weather they have experienced, a true teacher keeps teaching their class until those shining moments happen.
Forney Education Foundation has had many opportunities through the years that it has been funding teacher-requested grants to help foster many shining moments for the students in Forney ISD. And this Spring has been no different since all of the grants we awarded last Fall are now in use in classrooms. We are hoping to grow our goals, and we can with your help!
The Foundation’s fundraising pays for Project Backpack, Teacher of the Year dinner and awards, Kindergarten shirts, and teacherrequested grants. None of the shining moments that we have assisted with could have happened without the Forney Family believing in FEF’s mission and donating to the greater good.
