In Kaufman, Texas, Jake E’s Riding Roundup and its horses are significantly impacting the Forney community and surrounding areas through a unique blend of learning and healing that leverages the powerful bond between humans and horses. This Christian-based, non-profit equine-assisted services center has been transforming lives for over 13 years by providing vital support to veterans, youth, and adults with diverse abilities. The center collaborates with “horse” partners, including Marcus, Dottie, Sam, Princess, Doughnut, and others to enhance their programming.
The ranch is located on a bucolic piece of land with a new 200’ X 100’ covered arena, welcome center and two barns. The center offers not only traditional therapeutic horseback riding programs but also innovative learning experiences. These initiatives help participants develop essential life skills, such as nonverbal communication, trust-building, selfawareness, and inclusion, all within a supportive environment that promotes lasting positive change.
Founded by Jana Ewing Syvrud in memory of her son, Jacob Eli, who tragically passed away in a non-equine-related accident, Jake E’s Riding Roundup operates under the mission of P.E.A.C.E. – People thru Equines & Christ Achieving Courage & Empowerment. This mission guides every aspect of the organization, as it aims to foster healing through the human-horse connection. The center serves a diverse range of individuals, including veterans, at-risk youth, those battling substance abuse, and children and adults with special needs.
