On Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at approximately 4:00 PM, the Forney Police Department SWAT Team, Criminal Investigation Division, and the Kaufman County Street Crimes Unit executed a search and arrest warrant at a residence in the 300 block of S. Chestnut Street in Forney. The suspect, 26-year-old Landre Gilbert, was taken into custody without incident.
Gilbert is charged with First Degree Aggravated Robbery for an incident which occurred on March 2, 2025, at the Tom Thumb supermarket. During the commission of a theft, Gilbert brandished a handgun at employees who attempted to stop him as he departed the store. It was later determined that the handgun was a BB Gun. At the time of the offense, Gilbert was on parole for drug-related charges. At the time of this news release, Gilbert is awaiting arraignment and possible additional charges.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
