At the time this article is published, the annual Spring break for Forney ISD will be winding down. It started for the students and staff on Friday, March 7, and the school year will resume on Monday, March 17, with a renewed vigor to finish the year strong. There will be many activities and events and even tests ahead before the school year ends in May, but I am confident that the educational professionals in FISD will be prepared and will have prepared their students to do their best on the tests and to enjoy the memory-making events.

Before your personal calendars fill up, please consider the events that the Forney Education Foundation has coming up in April and May. The first event happens on April 8 with the Teacher of the Year Awards dinner. This event honoring all of the teachers who were selected as the Teacher of the Year at their respective campuses will be held that evening at The OC with the district Teachers of the Year being announced. The next event in April will be the Annual Blackland Prairie Film Festival that will take place on the evening of April 17, also at The OC. Both of these events are open to the public to attend, and FEF would really be honored if you chose to attend either event. And then in the merry month of May there will be a fun event– our Cinco de Mayo 5K Glow Run and 1 Mile Fun Run happening on May 3 at Wilson Elementary. The registration for this event is open now, and there is already a good number of registrants. You don’t want to miss out on this fun event!
