The Poetry Community Christian School (PCCS) Pioneers have wrapped up a remarkable basketball season with outstanding individual and team achievements, as the TAPPS 2A District 4 All-District Honors were recently announced.

The Pioneers have earned recognition across multiple categories, showcasing their hard work and dedication on the court throughout the season. All-District First Team Honors were awarded to four standout players: Brooks Walzel, Krishtian Johnston, Dylan Knox, and Jude Shook. These athletes played key roles in the team’s success.

In addition, Ryan Hamilton, Caden Miles, and Brody Evans earned spots on the All-District Second Team, further highlighting the depth of talent within the PCCS squad. The list of Honorable Mentions included Chase Keatts, Oleg Tikhonov, Zachary Hill, and London Moore, each contributing to the team’s overall performance.

This season also saw notable individual accomplishments. Krishtian Johnston was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Dylan Knox was awarded Newcomer of the Year.

The team’s standout player, Brooks Walzel, received the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) honor, a testament to his leadership and skills throughout the season.

In his first year as Head Coach at PCCS, Sidney Vaughn was recognized as Coach of the Year for his exceptional leadership and ability to bring the team together. Vaughn is quick to recognize the other members of the coaching staff, including Assistant Coach Allen Walzel, Assistant Coach AJ Jenkins and PCCS Athletic Director, Kendrick Bryson, and the integral part they played in the team’s success this year as well.

Looking back over this first season as Head Coach, Vaughn had this to say, “Reflecting on my first year at PCCS, the most rewarding experience has been guiding a group of young athletes to understand what it takes to win. Once we embraced that mindset, the team’s chemistry naturally followed. As a former college player, I’ve truly enjoyed mentoring these athletes and helping them compete at a high level. Like any first-year program, we faced challenges, including tough losses. However, as the players learned to trust one another, we saw significant growth—and the victories started to follow. I am honored to lead a team that plays with passion, dedication, and heart.”

The Pioneers’ recognition in the TAPPS 2A District 4 All-District Honors marks the culmination of a season filled with growth, teamwork, and achievement. The future looks bright for the Poetry Pioneers, who are poised to continue their success and strive for even greater accomplishments in the years to come.
