The beginning of the month of March comes roaring in like a proverbial lion, testing our resolve to withstand that gale force wind. Sometimes, the World of Education comes into March like the proverbial lion as well–state testing in different grades on different subjects, testing students to see how well they have absorbed their learning from their teachers and then applying it to the exam questions. It is a stressful time for all the levels of education in every school district because, while teachers have a good hunch about where their students are in their learning, until the tests are graded, teachers don’t know how well their students have mastered the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) for their grade level. Once the testing is complete and they receive the results, the professional educators now know what areas need to be worked on for their students.
The Forney Education Foundation understands how these test days can be difficult but also rewarding if the lessons were understood and then that comprehension applied by the students. It is rewarding for FEF to see how the different grants that were funded for the teachers this year positively affect the outcomes. One of the keys of good learning is the ability to apply learned information to different questions and situations. And the Foundation is confident in the many abilities of the widely varied teachers in Forney ISD to find the key for their individual students, thus unlocking their futures.
Don’t let those March winds just buffet you around like daffodils and dandelions–remember they handle those winds because they are rooted! And the Forney Education Foundation does understand that students need roots and wings- wings to soar in their learning and roots to help them grow in their learning.
