Four Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) Music Department students have earned the honor of performing in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Ensembles and travelled to San Antonio on Feb. 12 to participate in the annual TMEA Clinic/ Convention.
TVCC students Eduardo (Alex) Stinnette, Alexandra Sanchez, Angel Rodriguez, and Abigail Vives secured their spots after successfully competing against top community college musicians from across Texas.
•Stinnette and Vives were selected to perform with the Texas Two-Year College Choral Directors Association (TTCCDA) All-State Choir.
•Sanchez placed third on clarinet in the TCCBDA All-State Wind Symphony
•Rodriguez placed third on trombone in the TCCBDA All-State Jazz Band.
The highly competitive audition process begins at the regional level, where individual musicians perform for a panel of judges. Topranked students advance to area competitions, with the highest-scoring musicians ultimately earning a place in a TMEA All-State music group. These exceptional students joined other top musicians from across Texas for three days of rehearsals led by renowned conductors. Their participation culminated in a series of performances attended by thousands of music educators, students, and industry professionals.
“We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication,” said Dr. Ashley Holder, TVCC Professor of Woodwinds, Assistant Band Director, and Music Department Coordinator. “Earning a spot in these ensembles is a tremendous accomplishment and reflects their exceptional talent and commitment to music.”
TMEA plays a crucial role in advocating for fine arts education in Texas, offering professional development for educators, scholarships for music education majors, and programs that support future music educators. The association emphasizes the importance of music as a fundamental part of education, fostering academic growth, creativity, and social engagement.
