A frozen fractal sounds complicated, but it’s really just as simple as a snowflake. But are these amazing infinitely complex patterns really so easily defined? The fact is that fractals are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop. Driven by recursion, fractals are images of dynamic systems – the pictures of mathematical chaos. Geometrically, they exist in between our familiar dimensions. Fractal patterns are extremely familiar since nature is full of them: trees, rivers, coastlines, mountains, clouds, seashells, hurricanes… all of these are fractal. And they exist in the human body - lungs and the pulmonary system, blood flow and the circulatory system, and even in the brain itself; fractals make us, us.
The mastery and the mystery of nature many times can be broken down to its geometric components and patterns just as a school can be broken down to the classrooms, hallways, library, science labs, music rooms, theater spaces, kitchens, and athletic areas. It isn’t a coincidence that children in schools are referred to as the “student body” as they and the teachers form the dynamic that repeats itself throughout a campus every day.
The Forney Education Foundation understands how a simple pattern repeated in an infinite loop can create and enable successful outcomes for the students in the Forney Family on an ongoing basis. We also know without the help from the Forney community, it would be harder to help keep the pattern repeating for the students in Forney ISD. The important thing to remember is something small can lead to much bigger things for our students. A dozen people giving $100 is great, but if there was $10 given for every student in the district – over 16,000+ – the results could be phenomenal.
