Valentine’s Day is always celebrated on the 14th of February. It is a fun holiday for most people to celebrate the love and appreciation for the people in their lives whether they’re coworkers, romantic partners, friends, family members, or the significant people like the teachers in their children’s lives. The main symbol of Valentine’s is the heart, which is very appropriate when the holiday is thought of as the relationship between teachers and their students, as teachers have some of the biggest hearts for their students past, present, and future. As a member of the Forney Education Foundation, I have had many opportunities to witness the love the educational professionals in Forney ISD have for their students. When the employees in Forney ISD have the opportunity to participate in the employee fund drive at the beginning of the school year, they are the biggest contributors as a group. This participation speaks volumes about how much they believe in the good works that FEF does with the donated monies. When they submit their teacher-requested grants, they know that the Grant Committee is very careful with funding them from the donated funds. And then when we visit their classrooms on the days the Grant Train rolls through the district, their hearts are on full display for all the world to see, as are the hearts of their teacher partners and their administration at their respective schools. Those days are so rewarding for the Grant Committee to witness that they really are some of the highlights of the school year.
Here is the opportunity for you to participate this Valentine’s Day with a donation that celebrates the diverse learning that occurs in the classrooms of FISD. Simply visit www. forneyisdfoundation.org and see how you can show how big your heart is for the students in Forney ISD – and remember, no amount is too small for the Foundation!
