Let’s celebrate January 23 with a lovely slice of pie. National Pie Day is January 23 having been established in 1986 by the American Pie Council. It’s a holiday to celebrate pie because, well, pie!
So how does this relate to the Forney Education Foundation? If you have ever made a pie from scratch, you know very well how important it is to follow the measurements exactly to ensure a tasty outcome. Not only do you have to be accurate with your measurements, but you need to choose the filling that is best suited to the occasion for enjoying that piece of pie. These techniques and choices are parallel to the thoughts that go into the grant requests that the teachers in Forney ISD submit to FEF. And almost all of this school year’s grants have been ordered, and most of them have been delivered to the respective classrooms so they can be implemented into their respective curricula. Soon those teachers will be serving a virtual slice of pie to their students.
The Foundation is looking forward to the Teacher of the Year Awards Dinner that will occur in April so we can see how well all of those “slices of pie” were served up to those respective classrooms. This year, 28 teachers will be honored at the banquet which is being held again in The View at The OC on Thursday, April 10. If you are interested in being a sponsor for this event, please visit www.forneyisdfoundation. org and find out that participating is “as easy as pie”!
