The Layden Senior Citizens Center of Forney would like to welcome you at 101 Main Street in City Hall, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please enter the front or through handicap-accessible doors located at the back of City Hall, where reserved parking for seniors is also available.
The center is a non-profit organization, and we work on donations. Therefore, all are much appreciated. As Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
The center is thankful for our generous donors: Panera Bread, Smurfit Kappa, Papa John’s Pizza, and our Bingo sponsors: Alinea Hospice, Cheyenne Medical Lodge, Empower, Rely On Credit Union, and Oak Street Health, each of whom contributes weekly prizes. We invite you to frequent them whenever you can.
If you, or anyone you know, may be interested in helping deliver Meals on Wheels from the Center, please contact Danielle, the Director, for more details.
There are always fun and meaningful activities happening at the Center, in addition to our regularly scheduled ones as follows: Bingo on Mondays, Fridays at 10:00 Bridge club on Tuesdays, Thursdays at 12:30 Line Dancing at 10:00 Noodle Ball on Tuesdays at 11:00 We enjoyed a Devotional speaker and saw the movie It Ends With Us, on Thursday, 1/2.
On Tuesday, January 7, we had our first Site Council meeting at 9:00. Please note a change in new officers, due to 2nd attempt election. Brian Grant is President, vs Morris Whitacre, who is now Secretary.
On January 8, we had our monthly Covered Dish luncheon at noon. Fried chicken was provided, and everyone brought their favorite appetizer or dessert!
If you plan to eat lunch each day, please sign up by 10:30 at the latest. Make a point to look at each week’s menu and sign up early, so as not to worry about forgetting. And in this way, we can ensure there is enough food for everyone.
If you are contemplating setting new goals or habits in 2025, according to Bill Gallagher, Trail Christian Fellowship Pastoral Candidate, “The start of a new year often brings a wave of optimism and hope, inspiring many to set resolutions aimed at personal growth and positive change. However, achieving these goals can be challenging without a solid plan.”
As we start a new year, it’s crucial to recognize that nothing changes if nothing changes. This idea emphasizes the need for action and commitment to our resolutions. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or stuck, ask yourself: what are you tolerating in your life that you need to change? This reflection can set the stage for meaningful resolutions.
