The start of a new year brings to mind the beginnings of Forney Education Foundation itself. When George Brown approached the other founding members, Keith Bell, Dr. Wesley Wilson, Rick Wilson, Jim Bob Goldston, and Gary Beene, about his idea to provide $500 scholarships to every graduate of Forney ISD, they said yes immediately because a good idea is a good idea. Many things have changed in Forney ISD since the 2003-2004 school year when FEF began. Some of the changes have been the addition of a second high school and many new schools at all the levels, as well as teacher-requested grants that are funded by the Foundation. And now the scholarships are not needed as Dallas College provides dual credit classes at our schools. The Opportunity Central is also an amazing addition to the educational landscape in Forney ISD giving students and the Forney community so many avenues to pursue for their futures.
How does the Forney Education Foundation do all of these things? With generous donations from teachers, staff, individuals, and corporate partners, FEF can bring wonderful opportunities to the many students in Forney ISD. And, you, the interested public, can also give to FEF through direct donations on the website, www.forneyisdfoundation. org. So, start the new year off with humor and grace, loving and kindness and just maybe a donation to the Forney Education Foundation.
