“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” Jane Goodall When George Brown thought about how he could help the students in Forney ISD, he realized it was posthigh school aid from others that had helped him achieve his success. His concept for the Forney Education Foundation was to provide scholarships for graduating seniors to help them through all four years of college. And for a number of years as the Foundation was growing, this was the path that was used to help all graduating seniors in Forney. However, in 2007, the Board of Directors realized that the Foundation wasn’t reaching and helping nearly enough students and so began the teacherrequested grant program.

The teacher-requested grant program has been a great success from the beginning with the funding for these grants passing over $1,000,000 since 2008. This success is only as great as it has been due to the donations -large and small- that have been so generously given to FEF, as well as the wonderful grants requested by the education professionals in Forney ISD. Being on the grant committee and choosing which ones to fund isn’t easy for the members since there is a budget that is followed! In 2019, FEF added the Adopt-a-Grant program enabling the public to choose a grant and fund it individually or through a group or business. Since the Forney Community had seen previous grants in action as well as heard the stories behind how prior year’s grants had made a difference in classrooms, the Adopt-a-Grant program has already started impacting that many more students in Forney ISD.

Won’t you take the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Forney students? The amount given will be gratefully accepted and combined with others can make possibly the biggest difference in a student’s life.
