Nestled on the Trinity Valley Community College – Athens Campus is the TVCC Foundation, a non-profit that exists to assist in academic and educational purposes and the growth of the physical development of the college.

“The TVCC Foundation is essential in advancing the cause of the college,” TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison shared. “The Foundation provides opportunities and access to education and is a partner with the college in transforming lives.”

The organization, which began as the Henderson County Junior College (HCJC) Foundation, was founded in January 1974 with the express purpose of supporting the growth and development of HCJC, which was re-branded as Trinity Valley Community College in 1986. Donations to the Foundation started around $200 and have now grown into over a $10 million dollar organization.

The TVCC Foundation plays a transformative role in supporting students by providing scholarships that make higher education more accessible and affordable. These scholarships alleviate the financial burden for students, enabling them to focus on their studies and pursue their academic and career goals without the stress of financial strain. “Reading the student stories from the scholarship applications really puts into perspective the type of work we are doing and the challenges that our students are facing while going to college full time,” Interim Director of the Foundation Kandi Jones expressed. “It is very rewarding to be able to reach out and help them through their journey and ease the burden of the cost associated with an education.”

By investing in students’ futures, the Foundation not only empowers individuals to succeed but also strengthens the community by cultivating a well-educated and skilled workforce. Through the generosity and dedication of the Foundation, countless lives are changed as students are given the opportunity to thrive and excel in their educational journeys.

“We are seeing the result of the Foundation’s impact as we connect with TVCC alumni who have evolved in their career or respective industries and showcase their success stories,” Alumni and Development Coordinator Fabiola Fuentes shared. “It’s inspiring to show theses success stories to our current students.”

In the 2024-25 academic year, the Foundation awarded over $700,000 in scholarships to students.

Currently, the Foundation is working towards a $50,00 year-end giving campaign. As of Dec. 10, the Foundation has secured $33,600 of the $50,000 goal. On Dec. 3, known as National Giving Day, the Foundation was able to raise $7,000! Making a record day of giving at TVCC.
