Over the past month, the Forney Chamber of Commerce, with the generous support of Partners and community members, raised over $15,000 to feed 500 families identified by the Forney Education Foundation as in need of assistance.
On Saturday November 23rd, volunteers from across the community— including Chamber staff, Board members, Chambassadors, Partner volunteers, students from Forney ISD, and other supporters— gathered behind Kroger Marketplace at 500 Marketplace Blvd., Forney, TX 75126, to distribute holiday meal boxes. Each box included turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, yams, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, Little Debbie treats, rolls, and even a turkey roasting pan.
“The incredible generosity of our Partners and community members have made a significant impact on these families,” said Meg Adams, President & CEO of the Forney Chamber of Commerce. “We couldn’t have done this without the support and dedication of everyone who donated, volunteered, and organized this effort. Thank you for helping us demonstrate the power of unity and kindness in Forney.”
Any food not picked up by the families was donated to the Forney Food Pantry and Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support to continue helping those in need.
“The Forney Education Foundation is deeply grateful for this collaborative effort to support families in need,” said Justin Eatherly, Executive Director of the Forney Education Foundation. “It is inspiring to see our community come together to bring hope and joy during the holiday season.” Jessica Browning, Chairperson of this initiative, added, “This project was a true testament to what we can achieve when
