District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced today the conviction of Kenneth Danielson, age 60, for Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact Under 14 Years of Age. The 2nd degree offense of Indecency with a Child was enhanced to Automatic Life in prison based on Mr. Danielson’s Previous Conviction for the same offense in Dallas County, Texas in 1998. Texas carries a strict automatic life sentence for any subsequent conviction for a sex offense after having been previously convicted. At the time Mr. Danielson perpetrated abuse on his second victim, he was already a convicted and registered sex offender living within our community. After the minor child outcried about the abuse to a trusted adult, law enforcement sought a search warrant for Mr. Danielson’s residence. There they located a cell phone containing nude images of the minor child victim taken on separate dates by Mr. Danielson. Prosecutors presented evidence seized from Danielson’s phone, as well as testimony of Mr. Danielson’s grooming behavior towards his victim, which included gifts, trips to baseball games, and acting as a father figure for the child. At the conclusion of a three-day jury trial, the jury responded with a swift guilty verdict. The Defendant elected to have punishment assessed by the Court. Judge Shelton Gibbs sentenced Danielson to a term of LIFE imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Prosecution was led by Assistant District Attorneys Alysia Huskey and Ashley Holman, Investigator Sandra Ortiz, Paralegal Amanda Morris, and Victim’s Assistance Coordinator Sabrina Mumaw. The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department Investigators William Griffin and David Petty for their outstanding work investigating this case and ensuring this defendant can no longer hurt children in our community.
