Community can mean different things to different people, but I prefer the most common definition: “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.”
The Forney community has grown in record numbers the last few years, but there is still the sense of community in all of the various neighborhoods located in the area. I see it all the time as I drive to make deliveries or drive to my mother’s home. It brings a smile to my face to see neighbors visiting after work in their front yards and driveways and children playing “yard soccer” or shooting hoops or “driveway volleyball”.
The Forney Education Foundation knows how important community is to its mission of providing opportunities for excellence in education, promoting innovation in teaching, and partnering with the community to enhance the quality of education for all students. FEF provides numerous ways for the Forney community to add to their mission throughout the year. So far this academic year, the Foundation has hosted its annual Gala in October, Adopt-A-Grant beginning in October and going through the end of the year, the Annual Turkey Drive in partnership with the Forney Chamber of Commerce, and coming up the Antlers and TuTus Fun Run in December. All of these events give the community at large the chance to impact the students in Forney ISD in a most positive way.
And this is your invitation to add to the neighborhood community that exists today and to seize the opportunity to better the situation for the students and teachers in Forney ISD. Please visit www.forneyisdfoundation. org and see how easy it is to add to the community– and remember, no amount is too small!
