The month of November lends itself to helping people to count their blessings. Many people use daily thankfulness statements to help focus on the many blessings that fill their lives. And there is something fulfilling about reminding oneself what there is to be thankful for in one’s life.
The educational professionals in Forney ISD reminded us during the recent Grant Train days that they are thankful for the opportunities their grants provide in their classrooms for their students. The varied grants that were presented and then funded through the Foundation were so thoughtful in how the grant would add to the classroom experience. The Forney Community also participated in the Grant Train by funding several of the grants through the Adopt-AGrant program. And, good news, the Adopt-A-Grant program is open through the end of the year so there is still an opportunity for anyone to go to the website and choose a grant to fund.
Since 2008, the Forney Education Foundation has awarded over $1,165,000 to the teacher-requested grants program supporting innovative instructional programs and initiatives. The Grant committee always looks forward to deciding on which grants are to be funded; this year there were 52 grants awarded across 22 campuses. Another plus for the Board members was the opportunity to visit a number of the new campuses that have opened in the last year as well as introducing some new members to the joy of the Grant Train days.
We would be very thankful if you would visit www. forneyisdfoundation.org and see for yourself how easy it can be to impact the students in Forney ISD!
