Join the movement toward safer workplaces and the early identification of mental health challenges in adults and youth.

Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) Adult and Continuing Education is partnering with North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA) to offer educational programs aimed at identifying and supporting individuals with mental health challenges. This October, TVCC and NTBHA will provide Youth Mental Health First Aid and Adult Mental Health First Aid classes to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist those in need.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a 6-hour training designed to help adults who work with children and adolescents (ages 6-18) identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. Participants will learn how to provide initial support and connect young people to appropriate care. The course includes 6 contact hours, which consists of 2 hours of required pre-work.

Adult Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour training that teaches individuals how to recognize and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in adults. This course provides the skills necessary to offer initial support and connect those in need to the appropriate care. The training includes 8 contact hours, with 2 hours of pre-work required before the start date.

Both classes are delivered online via Zoom and require two hours of self-paced prework to be completed prior to the course. These courses are free and open to adults aged 18 and older.
