There is an art to leveling soil that most people never get to see. The tractor driver seems to take endless trips around and around the same plot of ground not making any progress—until you really look at the difference in the slope of the soil where the tractor has traveled. The same can be said about the everyday life of a student.
The school bus driver that knows the name of every rider and can tell if the school day was good or average. The cafeteria cashier that recognizes the child that has a regular dinner routine—and the child who doesn’t. The teacher who can tell first thing in the morning if that student had homework help the night before or if they need another day to finish. These are the people that work every day to help their charges have a stronger, better education, and while each act on its own might seem so small that it isn’t visible, they all add up together. Likewise, when one of the teachers at FISD realizes that there is something extra that they can request in a grant that will create a better environment for their students, they apply to the Forney Education Foundation.
A small act of generosity can help add on another layer to our students’ education. For that reason, the Forney Education Foundation has created the Adopt-A-Grant program, where the public can read through all the applications that have been approved by Forney ISD Administration and choose to adopt a grant submitted by the teachers for classroom enrichment. Our parents, friends, and PTOs have been enthusiastic supporters of the Adopt-A-Grant program for years because they know how much a small bit of work adds onto the larger whole, and it opens soon!
So here is your opportunity to “level the soil” and greatly impact the wonderfully diverse students in Forney ISD. Be on the lookout for the Adopt-AGrant Program announcement and choose a grant to adopt—either by yourself or as a group. Please go to www.forneyisdfoundation. org and see how you can be a force for good in students’ lives.
