The autumnal equinox will occur on September 22, 2024, at 7:43 a.m., and not a moment too soon! Summer held on almost to the last minute with higher than normal temperatures and no rain. But just as time and tide wait for no man, Autumn will arrive and make its presence felt. What we think of as Fall activities have been happening since the middle of August when school doors opened and students returned once again to be with their teachers and classmates.

The equinox is also a great moment to think about how we organize the world. On the equinoxes, the day and the night are the same length, which asks us whether or not we’re balanced in what we’re doing. At FEF we’re always thinking about how we can balance the scales for our students--and we’ve gotten to know so many teachers who are working to do the same thing. For example, one of the teachers, a grant recipient at the elementary level, asked for a machine to help balance the scales for a blind student. With the Foundation’s grant, this student could compete in a poetry competition on the same terms as sighted students. We were lucky enough to have her read her poetry to us at one of the Foundation’s monthly meetings, which everyone is welcome to attend!

This is just one of the many success stories of how the educational professionals in Forney ISD balance the learning in their classrooms for their students. It is so easy for the Forney Family to participate in balancing classroom learning levels with the Foundation. The Adopt-A-Grant window will be opening soon!
