“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” --Albert Einstein September 10 is “Swap Ideas Day”! It’s a great day to watch and participate in the interplay of good ideas you might get to use in your everyday life. Some will be so good that you will want to pass them along to others--you might even have one of your own to swap!

When George Brown first thought of the idea of the Foundation, it was to “do good’ for graduates of Forney ISD. George knew that sometimes one just needed a hand up to continue on the best path for one’s future. He personally knew how a seemingly small gesture can completely turn someone’s life towards the best path. That one idea has gotten “swapped” with the whole Forney Family since 2004, and we’ve all reaped the benefits.

The professional educators in Forney ISD also understand that a good idea deserves to be swapped to other teachers and classrooms. And the Foundation completely understands the value of a good idea that is swapped between campuses to bring innovation to the classroom. One example--a FEF-funded teacher-requested grantmeant that whiteboards, sized for a group of 2-3 students to work together, were installed in the classrooms in both high school Math Departments. A pair of teachers, one at each high school, swapped the idea of having their students learn through team collaborations on algebra problems. The outcome was so successful that they requested a grant to install whiteboards in every math classroom at both schools. This is a wonderful example of swapping ideas to help our students solve problems!

Adopt-A-Grant will be opening soon--which is a great time for everyone to swap ideas with our teachers! Come visit www. forneyisdfoundation.org. Don’t miss out on the fun of the swap!
