Seniors
The Layden Senior Citizens Center of Forney would like to welcome you at 101 Main Street in City Hall, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please enter the front or through handicap-accessible doors, located at the back of City Hall, where reserved parking for seniors is also available.
The center is a non-profit organization, and we work on donations. Therefore, all are much appreciated. Warren Buffet said, “If you’re in the luckiest 1% of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99%.”
The center is very thankful for our generous donors: Panera Bread, Smurfit Kappa, Papa John’s Pizza, and our Bingo sponsors: Alinea Hospice, Cheyenne Medical Lodge, Empower, Rely On Credit Union, and Oak Street Health, each of whom contributes weekly prizes. We invite you to frequent them whenever you can.
There are always fun and meaningful activities happening at the Center, in addition to our regularly scheduled ones as follows: Bingo on Mondays, Fridays at 10:00 Bridge club on Tuesdays, Thursdays at 12:30 Line Dancing, please note only on Wednesdays at 10:00 throughout August Noodle Ball on Tuesdays at 10:00 On Wednesday, 8/28, we played Bunco, always a fun game.
If there are activities you would like to have at the Center, please contact our Director, Danielle.
The Center returned to the Layden building 8/19, after temporarily being housed in the First Methodist Church in Forney. Our time at the church was super enjoyable, with ample parking and room to move around inside.
If you do not already have a copy of the current calendar, be sure to pick up your copy next time you are at or nearby the center, so you do not miss out any of your favorite and/ or new activities.
If you plan to eat lunch each day, please sign up by 10:30 at the latest. We make a point to look at each week’s menu and sign up early, so as not to worry about forgetting and to be sure there is enough food for everyone to eat. If you forget to sign up, simply go to the back of the line, and if there is enough food, you may still be served.
For those occasions you are unable to attend lunch at the Center, check out this week’s recipe for a refreshing corn summer salad: https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipeideas/ a19695472/easy-fresh-corn-salad-recipe/ Happy August birthdays and congrats on another year around the sun to Julie Trent, Vincent Decicco, Tom Ethridge, Michael Kavanaugh, Nancy Watson, Pat Eulin, Rosa Tamburine, Norma Fielding, Cyndy Rozmarich, Vivian Hickey, Rosemary Greny, and our dazzling Director, Danielle Taylor!
If you were born in August, your birthstone is the peridot and flower is either the poppy or gladiolus.
