Opportunities Abound

Opportunities are always there to do right by someone and lift them up. The Board Members of Forney Education Foundation know that it can be easy to seize an opportunity to visit with someone about what FEF does and how much it impacts the students and teachers in Forney ISD. And many times, the person finding out immediately looks inward to see how they can help with the mission of FEF. So many partnerships have developed for the benefit of the Foundation through casual conversations. In fact even the origin story of FEF began this way with conversations between George Brown and five of his friends. George had the idea of helping students once they had graduated from high school in Forney with a graduated payout that could give that little bit of help that is sometimes needed in the pursuit of post-high school studies. And as the world changed, so did the Foundation. By evolving into the model of helping students pre-high school graduation, FEF has actually given a better kind of help to the students and teachers.

And once the addition of teacher-requested grants was added to the scope of what Forney Education Foundation does annually, the sky was the limit. The teachers in FISD have requested many wonderful grants over the years that have greatly enhanced the classroom experience as well as broadened the abilities and capabilities of the students passing through the halls of Forney ISD.

The door for teacherrequested grants has now opened for this school year and the Grant Committee is looking forward to the amazing grants that will be proposed for funding. And the members of the Forney Community will also be able to review–and possibly select–a teacher-requested grant to fund entirely or to donate a specific amount to aid in funding a grant that has been requested by a particular school.
