On July 26-28, Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Iota Alpha members attended and presented at the PTK Honors Institute conference at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX.
Luis Guardado, Laiza Huerta Barco, Bridget Trujillo, Sidney Gisore, Whitney Omenge, and Advisor Nancy Long had the opportunity to represent TVCC’s PTK and attend information sessions, seminar groups, workshops, and fellowship events on the university campus. Long served as a Seminar Leader and, as TX PTK District III Coordinator, was part of the TX PTK Leadership Team. Members of TVCC’s PTK chapter co-presented a workshop on “Beginning the Honors in Action Study.”
Though he wasn’t in attendance, TVCC PTK Officer Nathaniel Hamilton was recognized as a Texas Star Scholarship recipient. Guardado accepted the award in Hamilton’s honor.
The Honors Institute is held each summer in July to begin the study of the PTK Honors Study Topic, which guides a research study and research project. For 2024 – 2025, the Honors Study Topic is “The Power of Stories.”
