On Monday, July 15, the Crandall ISD Board of Trustees welcomed representatives from the Mesquite Campus of Lakepointe Church for a presentation at their regular Board Meeting.

Lakepointe Church, a Rockwall-based church with six metroplex locations, states on its website that “Lakepointe Church was founded through a love for Christ and a goal of serving the community.” One of the many ways Lakepointe works to serve the community is by partnering with local school districts to pay off student meal debts, reducing the chances for past or present financial struggles for families to stand in the way of a child’s access to nourishment during the school year.

Everyone knows how difficult it can be to concentrate when your stomach is growling, but research also highlights the impact proper nutrition has on brain development in students. The bleak reality, though, is that 1 in 5 students in America are faced with food insecurity, which can greatly impact their academic progress.

The Crandall ISD School Board was grateful to receive a donation from Lakepointe’s Mesquite Campus for $13,627 to pay off CISD student meal debt, giving Pirate students a fresh start for the 2024-2025 school year.
