When you’re walking and reach a gate that is closed, the next step is to open it. But what if it won’t just open? It could have a chain with a lock that needs a key you don’t have, or it’s a combination lock and you don’t have the combination needed to open it. It may have an electric gate opener that is simply not plugged in, or the battery that controls it isn’t charged enough to function. So what are our options?

When we meet an obstacle that we can’t get through, we rely on our family, friends, and neighbors. And when the gate swings open, the opportunity to enter is wide open before you–much in the same way the future is wide open and available to our students.

And this is where the Forney Education Foundation can come to the aid of students waiting at the gate. Because FEF listens to the district teachers as well as the administrative staff, there are many funding opportunities to open the gate through teacherrequested grants as well as providing backpacks and other aids to students.

But this year we ask that you support our students at the Back to School Rally and Fair! Taking place on July 27 at 9 a.m. until Noon at the OC, near the Aquatic Center, Rhodes Intermediate School, and Jackson Middle School, the Fair assists with Backpacks, School Supplies, Haircuts, Physicals, Well Visits, Dental, Nutrition, Transportation, School Resources, School Uniforms, and Campus Administration.

Make an obstacle disappear for our students and their families by dropping off physical donations at the Forney ISD Administration building, at 600 S Bois d’ Arc. Or visit www. forneyisdfoundayion.org and donate online!
