The Layden Senior Citizens Center of Forney would like to welcome you at 101 Main Street in City Hall, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please enter the front or through handicap-accessible doors, located at the back of City Hall where reserved parking for seniors is also available.

The center is a non-profit organization, and we work on donations. Therefore, all are much appreciated. Robert Louis Stevenson said, “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.”

The center is very thankful for our generous donors: Panera Bread, Smurfit Kappa, Papa John’s Pizza, and our Bingo sponsors: Alinea Hospice, Cheyenne Medical Lodge, Empower, Rely On Credit Union, and Oak Street Health, each of whom contributes weekly prizes. We invite you to frequent them whenever you can.

There are always a ton of activities happening at the Center, in addition to our regularly scheduled ones as follows: Bingo on Mondays, Fridays at 10:00 Bridge club on Tuesdays, Thursdays at 12:30 Line Dancing most Thursdays at 10:00 Noodle Ball on Tuesdays at 10:00 Crafts on Thursdays at 10:00 Last week, on Wednesday, we enjoyed an inspirational speaker and covered dish luncheon on Wednesday, 6/12. It is always a fun, enjoyable time breaking bread with friends and members.

On Wednesday, June 19, we had our monthly birthday celebration. Happy June birthdays, and congrats on another year around the sun, to Deborah Morgan, Arthur Harris, Terry Jones, Shirley Norris, Debbie Kuhl, Deborah Youngbrown, Sherrie Walker, Joann Swanson, and Ofelia!

If you were born in June, your birth flowers are roses and honeysuckles. Your birthstones are the pearl, alexandrite, and moonstone.

If there are activities you would like to have at the Center, please contact our Director, Danielle.

If you do not already have a copy of the current June calendar, be sure to pick up your copy next time you are at or nearby the center, so you do not miss out any of your favorite and/or new activities.

If you are 60 or older and want to join us for lunch at noon, please either drop by or call 972-552-6690 to sign up by 10:30 a.m. In addition, breakfast at the center is 8:3010:30 a.m.

Make a point to look at each week’s menu and sign up early, so as not to worry about forgetting and to be sure there is enough food for everyone to eat.
