The Layden Senior Citizens Center of Forney would like to welcome you at 101 Main Street in City Hall, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please enter the front or through handicap-accessible doors located at the back of City Hall where reserved parking for seniors is also available.

The center is a non-profit organization, and we work on donations. Therefore, all are much appreciated. Muhammad Ali said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”

The center is very thankful for our generous donors: Panera Bread, Smurfit Kappa, Walmart, The Flower Basket, Brookshire’s, Papa John’s Pizza, and our Bingo sponsors: Alinea Hospice, Cheyenne Medical Lodge, Empower, Rely On Credit Union, and Oak Street Health, each of whom contributes weekly prizes. We invite you to frequent them whenever you can.

There are always meaningful activities happening at the Center, in addition to our regularly scheduled fun ones as follows: Bingo on Mondays, Fridays at 10:00 Bridge club on Tuesdays, Thursdays at 12:30 Line Dancing on Thursdays at 10:00 Noodle Ball on Tuesdays at 10:00 Crafts on Thursdays at 10:00 You can often find other fun games going on too: Hand and Foot, Mah-jong, jigsaw puzzles, and 42 (dominos).

Next week, on Tuesday, 5/14, will be our next Site Council Meeting at 9:00, and our monthly celebration of May birthdays on Wednesday, 5/15.

If there are activities you would like to have at the Center, please contact our Director, Danielle.

If you do not already have a copy of the current May calendar, be sure to pick up your copy next time you are at or nearby the center so you do not miss out any of your favorite and/or new activities.

If you are 60 or older and want to join us for lunch at noon, please either drop by or call 972-552-6690 to sign up by 10:30 a.m. In addition, breakfast at the center is 8:30-10:30am.

It is super important if you plan to eat lunch each day, please sign up by 10:30 at the latest. A good idea is to look at each week’s menu and sign up early, so you don’t worry about forgetting and there is always enough food for everyone to eat. Life happens, so if you forget to sign up for lunch by 10:30, notify Danielle when you arrive and go to the back of the line.

For those days you are unable to join us for lunch at the Center, check out this week’s recipe link for an easy, delicious salmon in foil recipe: https://www.eatwell101.com/ baked-salmon-asparagus-foil-packs-recipe Happy May birthdays, and congrats on another year around the sun, to another year around the sun to Lanedia Smith, Barbara Bottoms, David Brewster, Mary Penny, Martha Daily, Doris Dobbs, Lawanda Cochran, Gail King, Johnny Murphy and Margie McGee!

Mother’s Day is always on the second Sunday in May, so this year, it will be May 12. Did you know?
