The beauty that is Spring lies in the promise of new growth seemingly occurring overnight; trees are leafing out, flowers are pushing up through the soil, bees and birds and butterflies are fluttering in the sunshine. Teachers and students are working hard to finish the school year in a strong fashion.
Upperclassmen in FISD are at this amazing point of new growth, and none are blooming right now like those students participating in the dual credit program. And since Dallas College Eastfield and Texas Tech University partnered with FISD in January 2022, our graduates have been able to leave high school with an associate degree and, in two years, have a Bachelor’s without ever having to leave Forney. This partnership also gives new opportunities to the Forney Family: TTU offers online courses to Forney residents and plans to offer face-to-face courses in the future, which will help any member of the Forney Family to achieve their dream of a four-year degree.
Like a well-functioning ecosystem, the work of the District, Foundation, and Community build on each other and foster growth in everybody. And the continual change and growth of our programs indicate the health of our entire community. Bees, butterflies, and birds interact with flowers; flowers grow seeds; seeds become new flowers or grow into tall trees. Teachers nurture students in their growth with the support of the Administration giving the teachers help and encouragement as needed-- just like a master gardener nurtures a garden.
And we at the Foundation come by with a sprinkle of fertilizer compliments of our supporters. Won’t you join our group of master gardeners and reap the community-wide benefits? Visit us at www. forneyisdfoundation.org and see how easy it is to plant seeds for the future.
