National Tell a Story Day is on April 27th each year in the United States. The fun of telling stories is the opportunity it gives the teller to share a piece of their own history or share a favorite part from a book or inform others about some amazing moment. The ancient practice of storytelling handed down knowledge from one generation to the next, and it is a wonderful way to pass on family traditions, histories, and long-told tales. It can also be entertaining as well as educational. Any good storyteller will tell you some of the best stories come from real-life experiences.
The Board members of the Forney Education Foundation will tell you how much fun it is to share the story of how FEF was formed and especially how much of an impact it has had on the students in Forney ISD. This Foundation was created to help out the students in FISD by helping them with their future plans. And after a number of years in existence, the Board members widened who they helped by adding teacher-requested grants to the offerings. Some of the best stories Board members share with people who are new to FEF are about the teacher-requested grants and how the students in those classes are impacted. Many times, when hearing those stories, people are moved to donate to the Foundation because, as we say, any amount is happily received and welltended. Adding the Adopt-A-Grant opportunity has also given more community members the chance to relish the excitement that comes from funding those grants that directly impact the classrooms in Forney schools.
Now is a great time to tell a story about how YOU directly impacted a classroom in the district. By going to www.forneyisdfoundation. org and donating, another class full of students can benefit and give you a story to tell!
