Jenny Weems has been named Executive Director of The Door Life and Pregnancy Resource Center in Forney, the board of directors announced Feb. 26.

Weems brings to the role nearly a decade of experience providing services and resources to those impacted by unplanned pregnancy and domestic violence. She previously served as Client Services Director at Hope Pregnancy Center in Canton, and as Director of Genesis Life Center in Kaufman.

The Door, located at 13340 FM 740 in Forney, opened in October 2022. The center serves women and their families with needs such as pregnancy testing, options counseling, prenatal and parenting classes, and lactation consulting, as well as material resources such as diapers, wipes, baby clothes, and equipment. All services are free of charge.

Weems had opportunity to lend her client services experience to The Door board of directors during the center’s planning stages in 2021 and 2022 and has been a friend and consultant of the Forney pro-life ministry since then.

She assumes responsibility for directing the center from Interim Director Vonnie Salguero, who has served with The Door since its inception, and who now moves into the Client Services Director role.

“I have always felt called to working with women and children in crisis,” Weems noted. In her new position, she will be working directly with clients, as well as training volunteers and staff, fundraising, and conducting community awareness outreach.

“Our vision at The Door is to bring practical assistance to anyone who is impacted by an unplanned pregnancy,” she said. “I look forward to working with schools, churches, and organizations in the area to serve as many women and children as possible.”

Jenny Weems and her husband Gem are residents of Wills Point. They have 6 children and 10 grandchildren.
