“The environment is where we all meet…a focusing lens on what we can become.” –LBJ All Texans know that spring is a breezy day in a field of bluebonnets. Last fall, my husband and I planted crimson clover, quake oats, and bluebonnet seeds, and now we’re seeing them growing and blooming. And as anybody who’s driven on the highway in Texas can attest, thanks to Lady Bird Johnson, wildflower season has begun.
We wouldn’t have the wildflowers we have if it weren’t for people planting seeds. Our educational professionals in FISD also know the power of “planting seeds” in the fall because they see those students bloom in the spring. The results of a little extra help from the community, through the Adopt-A-Grant program and Teacher-Requested Grant program, makes all of our students blossom. At the Forney Education Foundation we’ve been so rewarded to see our little extra funding in the classrooms help our students and teachers to thrive. Our goal is to enhance learning in the classroom in partnership with our FISD teachers.
All of the teacherrequested grants for 2023/24 school year have been fulfilled and are being used in the classroom today. The Foundation looks forward to hearing how our little seeds have sprouted from the teachers whose grants were funded.
